Default wow - rits are fun

During the Factions preview week-end, I played a rit, partied with a guildie who'd made a 'sin. Neither of us was really impressed with our choices, though I think getting our butts kicked by Onis might have had something to do with that.

When Factions came out, I made a rit and a 'sin. Played the rit up to about lvl 6, just wasn't gelling for me so I switched the 'sin and used the rit for storage.

Managed to complete the game with the 'sin but, boy, what a chore - definitely not my favorite prof. Never quite "got" it, so I wasn't terribly good, had to settle for being just kind of meh. Not to say that it can't be played well by a skilled player - I watched one solo Scareater 6 times in a row while I just stood there observing.

Anywho, a few weeks ago I decided to dust off the rit and give her another chance. Got to lvl 20 and still was feeling that I didn't know what the heck I was supposed to be doing. Kept plugging away and finally started getting the hang of it; once that kicked in, I really started having fun.

Not claiming to be the world's greatest rit (yet ) but I'm satisfied with my progress; certainly I'm a better rit than I was a 'sin. Just a couple hours ago, I did the Varesh mission. Wanted to go in a pug but ended up having to go with H&H. Made it on the 2nd try *and* got Masters, to boot. Woot!

You know, you hear some people say that rits are boring but it's turned out that I'm having a blast with mine.

I had a similar experince with rangers, too, btw - my very 1st Proph char was a ranger but I sucked big time and eventually deleted him. Then I needed a new mule and made another, figuring I'd never be tempted to play him. Eventually, though, I did start playing him and, once I started to "get" it, I came to really love playing him.

I should probably give my 'sin another go; maybe with a little more thought and insight, I might find that I can be a bit more effective and, so, get more enjoyment out of it.

So, nothing really earth-shatterring in this post, just thought I'd share my experience. If there's any message, it would be "don't listen when people say such-and-such prof is boring". That might have been their experience but you might find it's the most fun char you ever made.

Good to know we have another cool headed player going the Priest of the Dead path! The really is a cool Healing Breeze after all the whining threads about PvE only skills.

Out of curiosity, what kind of rit do you like to play? I've got a love for the offensive spirits, seeing all those shiny little numbers adding up is so fun! Got to say I also hold some love in resto rits.

I'm completely the same. I'd love to have a high level rit but I've made about 4 and can never break through the horrid boredom of Shing Jea.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your rit. Just be sure to experiment with them as you gain experience. The ritualist is extremely versatile and more important fun.

Ya, I play offensive. Current skill bar is:

Union
Pain
Bloodsong
Painful Bond
Spirit Boon Strike
Essence Strike
Vital Weapon
Resurrect

Slot 1 I'll vary depending on where I am or the group I'm in (I play a lot with just H&H, tho, cause I'm on a lot late at night when pugs are hard to find), so I might throw on Gaze of Fury or Spirit Rift (or LB Gaze now that I'm far enough into NF to need it).

Attributes are 12 Communing, 12 Channelling, 11 Spawning

Health is 520, Energy is 55

Health includes a +25 focus, going to trade that for a +30 Collector's when I get 2 more Ruby Djin Essences, but no Vigors so far. I've got a couple of Sup Vigors stashed away but can't bring myself to use one yet; now that I've reached Torment, I might need to bite that bullet.

Will prob experiment with a +15/-1/+30 focus, too - that would bump the E up to 70 but don't know if it will adversely affect the regen. I always use them on my necs and eles to good effect (problematic on mes, though, and iffy on monk). For the most part, I haven't really had too much problem with E management so far, and I don't use any really high cost skills.

Biggest problem I encounter is the long cast times on the Channelling skills - target frequently dies before the spell gets off.

This build seems to work pretty well for me but I'm certainly open to suggestions.

If you think casting or spirit spamming is boring, try a speachucking Spirit's Strength build. I went through NF with it, and it's a ton of fun.

I personally love rits because they're the most gimmicky class. EVERY build with a rit has some bizarre skill interaction that for me, makes them a lot more fun to play than button mashing classes. Out of Spike, Johnny and Timmy, I'm definitely a Johnny.

I'm glad that more people are thinking this. I really think Rit has given me the most FUN out of any other class. I kind of like all of the awkward gimmicky builds, but the straightfoward builds are always fun too =) Spirit's Strength alone gave rits a cool new way to play.

I've always wanted to play a rit since Factions came out, but I didn't get Factions until 6 weeks ago. I've just finished the Nahpui Quarter with my rit and I have to say that Spirit Rift really kicked butt on that mission.

I agree with what the other person was saying that sometimes with long cast times with some channeling spells the enemy dies too quickly before you get the spell off. I guess I too have a fair amount of learning as far as playing a rit well goes, but I have fun with it. I like mixing it up between channeling/communing/restoration. Although, I certainly see how effective a resto rit can be compared with a monk, I don't play this as often. I got burned out playing my monk sometime ago.

I really like my rit and its right up there with my ranger and necro because they're all versatile characters.

another good thing about the rit is that you can mimmick other classes, such as the spirit warrior Rit/War or the splinter barrager Rit/Ran or even the resto rit instead of a monk, although a bit different.
and with the new skill summon spirits you're no longer restricted by spirit's AoE as you can move them easily

I love playing my ritualist. Shes a channeler! If people ask me to go restoration, what do i say "no, sorry" if they decide to kick me oh well there loss. It is very annoying how everyone who does come across a ritualist, assume that were all channelers.
